Amazing that with all the rumors and innuendo swirling around wheelchair rugby, that which teams will have international players hasn't come up. I guess no one wants to tip their hand before the first tournament.
Can this information be posted to the Commissioner's Corner as teams are registered?
Here's what I saw at Best of the West...
Denver has Ross Morrison (2.5) from GB, returning. Ross played with Denver in the 2005-6 and 2006-7 seasons.
Sharp has wunderkid Riley Batt (3.5) from Australia. This is the first season Riley has played in the US. With Brent Poppen returning to wheelchair rugby from a season dedicated to tennis and reunited with former Phoenix Heat teammate Andy Cohn, this could be the team to beat.
UofA has Trevor Hirschfield (2.0) from Canada returning. Trevor played with UofA last season as well.
In the rumors department, it looks like defending national champions, Texas Stampede are not planing on defending their title, with the near collapse of their team. Speedmeister Shinichi Shimakawa will not be playing in the US or at home in Japan to heal (possible surgery) on his shoulder and a chip in his elbow. Mark Zupan and Scott Hogsett aren't playing either. Perhaps Gumby's decision not to play them in the gold medal match could have chilled their desire to play for the Stampede?
Anyone else have some details or rumors to share?

great topic
DB,
Thanks for getting a good topic of disscussion. I heard Zupan and Hogsett are not playing for Texas. Does this mean those two are retired or are they planning on playing for another team? Whats Lakeshore doing? Do they have an international player? Last year I heard a rumor that Nick Springer may play for U of A ?
The 08-09 season is well on its way yet most teams have not completed their rostors on quadrugby.com..Its really easy to do and you would be surprized how many sponsors, media, players, and fans look at your team info. If they see team after team with no players and team website links it gives an impression that quad rugby is dead...just my opinion I may be wrong...

Just to correct the above
Just to correct the above posting a bit:
"UofA has Trevor Hirschfield (2.0) from Canada returning. Trevor played with UofA last season as well."
I think you're talking about Trevor's BC teammate, Travis Murao (2.0).
Trevor is a 1.0.

Team USA "One Heartbeat"
This is not a rumor, it is a fact. Scott's version of his limited playing time in Beijing, was that Gumby was mad at Zupan, and therefore, he did not get to play except in a reduced role.(In the case of the gold medal game; not at all.) Thus, suggesting that Gumby would risk losing the gold for the U.S. over a personal matter with a player. Perhaps? For those of us that watched the games, some more than once, some several times; could clearly see that line-ups that ran the 2's, were very strong, most notably in the gold medal game. I doubt that Scott, Gumby, or Zupan has the same story about what went down in Beijing. What we do know is that Scott, Gumby, and Zupan are once again in the middle of another controversy with their team, their former team, their coach, their former coach, or some combination of all-the-latter. Too bad we have to wait until next season to see where they decide they want to play, or who they will try to get to play for them, but I'm certain that they will put their team and teammate's well-being above their own personal gain.
